Come and join us for the 174th Campbell Town Show, Tasmania’s ‘Paddock to People Show’. A vibrant celebration of all things rural. The Southern Hemisphere’s oldest continually running Agricultural Show and listed by The National Trust as part of our Island State’s Living history. It is also Tasmania’s only sheep show.
Last year we were very proud to have our special guest Glenn McGrath at the Show. We painted the Show & Campbell Town pink and raised over $7000 for the McGrath Foundation with the auction of a signed Cricket bat at the Cocktail Party, donations of entry fees and prize money (Thank you to the Wood chop and Show Jumping exhibitors, plus Cocktail party attendees), carcases from the Paddock to Plate completition, and generous donations collected at the Show and local Campbell Town businesses.
The limited edition pink MAA hats signed by Glenn were very popular.
Watch this space for the announcement of the 2012 Special Guest!!!
2011 was the 75th anniversary of Exhibition Hall where they had loads of local produce on display and to sample. The level of competition was high, and they achieved a record number of entries, over 1000. The aprons and bags made to commemorate the event were a sell out.
Only REAL MEN bake cakes…so be a MAN and bake a cake for our now legendary MAN CAKE competition. But be warned competition in this category has proved to be fierce.
AUSTRALIAN WOOL is world renowned, and at Tasmania’s Premier Sheep and Wool Show we are Celebrating a 20 year revival in the wool market, and the Internation Campaign for Wool.
LAMB is still on the menu with the ‘Paddock to Plate’ Prime Lamb competition coming up to its third year. Last years Heavy Export winners were the Archers family of Landfall Farm Fresh, so you can visit their butchers shop in Launceston and sample the high quality produce yourself!!!
The Inaugural Cropping Competition of 2011 was a success. The O’Connor family of “Benham” Avoca won the barley section and the Lyne family of “Riccarton” Campbell Town the Canola section. Thanks goes to the sposnors Cascade breweries and Tasmanian Agricultural Producers, plus the organisers Keith and Georgina of Pengilley Consulting.
